森徹山 Mori Tetsuzan (1775-1841)
Painter of the Mori and Shijo schools active in Osaka in the late Edo period. Son of Mori Shuho 森周峰. Learned Kano school from his father Shuho. He was adopted by his uncle Mori Sosen 森狙仙 and succeeded to the Mori school. He was especially good at animal paintings, and skillfully painted not only monkeys like Sosen, but also animals that are not often depicted. He became a pupil of Maruyama Okyo in his later years. One of the ten philosophies of the Okyo school.
