鳥居清長 Torii Kiyonaga (1752-1815)
Ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period. Fourth head of the Torii school. Representative painter of the Torii school. Active mainly during the Tenmei period between Suzuki Harunobu and Kitagawa Utamaro, he was one of the six greatest ukiyo-e artists, along with them and later Sharaku, Hokusai and Hiroshige. Today he is internationally acclaimed, especially for his imposing eight-headed paintings of beautiful women.
