2代目荒井正春 Arai Masaharu 2nd (b1952)
Maki-e Artist in Fukui Prefecture, in 1970, he received maki-e instruction from Masaharu I. He has devoted himself to maki-e of tea ceremony utensils such as Natsume and incense containers. In 1989, the company was reborn as Masaharu Kobo and divided into the wood, undercoat, medium lacquer, overcoat, and maki-e sections, each combining their skills and knowledge to produce uncompromisingly excellent works.

Nashiji Makie is that Nashi-ji powder is sprinkled on the lacquered area, and then further layers of lacquer are applied and polished out. This technique began in the Kamakura period (1185-1333).
